COMFORT MEASURES FOR PREGNANCY, LABOR AND BIRTH
Time to build confidence and increase mobility as you prepare for birth!
Our Comfort Measures class can help you and your partner learn and practice many different tools and techniques to stay comfortable during labor. We go over different laboring and birthing positions as well as other helpful tips, ideas and suggestions to keep you as comfortable as possible. We'll also share things we want you to know and keep in mind if you decide to use pharmacological pain relief options like analgesics or an epidural during your labor.
Our class instructors are birth doulas and child birth educators that have many years of experience helping families with various comfort techniques, positions and movements for labor and birth. We will help you learn how to use different props; a birth ball, peanut ball, pillows, chairs and more.
We will provide all materials and props needed during class and we will send you home with additional information that you can pack in your labor bag to help you feel more prepared and empowered for your birth experience.
Please wear comfortable clothes you can move in during class! We also encourage you to bring a water bottle with a straw if you have one.

Alison Spath, Co-Owner, IBCLC, Active Certified Body Ready Method Pro, CD(DONA), RYT 200
Alison cares deeply about the importance of personal and informed decision-making and aims to provide her clients with evidence-based information in all things related to pregnancy, birth, feeding and early parenthood. Alison’s own birth and breastfeeding experiences along with her work with hundreds of families over the years has taught her that there are often unpredictable bumps and turns on this journey. What’s most important to her is that you were informed of your options and feel supported, heard and respected throughout all the many decisions you will make during this time in your life.
At BBC, Alison teaches our Intro to Breastfeeding class for expecting parents, facilitates our weekly breastfeeding support group Breastfeeding Cafe, offers private in home (or at BBC) lactation consults and manages our yoga studio. Alison is currently accepting lactation clients and accepts birth doula clients on a limited basis.
