The Other Half

A Support Group for Partners

The transition to parenthood for partners can be overwhelming, exciting, scary, thrilling and exhausting. We often feel like we don’t have the space to show it. The Other Half aims to provide a safe space to air all victories and grievances, big or small. Whether you’re looking for a place to meet friends or a place to find yourself again, we are happy to have you. This group is intended for the non-birthing parent to connect with others in a similar place. All are welcome.

Facilitated by Jon O’Keefe, and Andrew Bellush, LMHC, The Other Half focuses on relationships and parenting in the first year of baby’s life.

The Other Half is held monthly, typically Friday evenings. Find our current schedule and registration here.

Andrew Bellush, LMHC

Hi, I’m Andrew Bellush, and I am lucky enough to be a father to two sons, thanks to my wife Molly.

I practice therapy as a licensed mental health counselor here in Rochester, NY, and have worn many hats in my life. So far the ones I’ve got on right now are my favorites. I am an open book, and try to be as authentic as possible about the varied and sometimes challenging experience of being a father and a partner.  My hope is that if we are all going to be wondering what the hell we’re doing, then we come together in this group so that we don’t have to do that alone. I’m here for you, and look forward to meeting you.

Jon O’Keefe

Hi, I’m Jon O’Keefe! I am the proud father of Willow and partner to Krystal. We have been going to BBC since 2017 and can honestly credit BBC with helping us through a very difficult start to our parental journey. In 2018, I originally started “The Other Half” to help partners who needed support, guidance, and a friendly ear. Unfortunately, due to COVID and time restrictions at work, the group had to be put on hiatus. Now we’re back and ready to get going again!

I love being a dad and a partner! I’m on the other side of the toddler journey but remember many of the exciting moments and all of the challenges that we’ve faced. I am looking forward to hosting this group again to support partners as I have learned a lot about the parenting process in the last few years. I love movies, all things nerdy, anything that relates to technology, and learning about other people’s passions. I look forward to meeting you, and can’t wait to help if I can, listen when you need me to, and give advice when it’s appropriate.

We kindly ask for $3 contributions to attend this meeting. You can pay with cash, check or credit/debit card at the studio. We will never turn anyway away from this group for lack of funds. This small contribution truly helps us keep our support groups running. Thank you for helping us support you and other new families in our community!
