Breastfeeding 201: Back To Work, Pumping and Bottle Feeding

Everything you need to know about returning to work, using your breast pump and giving your baby a bottle.

In this class we talk about all you need to know to be able to continue breastfeeding after you return to work.

We’ll cover:

Planning with your employer, your legal rights

Pumping, scheduling, flange fit, pump settings

Other pumping tips, tricks and tips

Human milk storage and handling

Maintaining your milk supply

Bottle feeding, how much milk to offer

Your freezer stash of stored milk, how much to have before you first day back

Preparing yourself, your family and your caregivers for your return to work

Breastfeeding at 6 months, 12 month and beyond.

We’ll also address your questions, concerns and anything else you’d like to discuss about going back to work and breastfeeding beyond the early weeks.

Babies are very welcome to accompany you to class. You can also leave baby home if you feel like you will better absorb the class material without baby in arms. You are welcome to bring your breast pump if you have questions about it or if you need to pump during class.

While this class is intended for families who have already had their babies and are currently breastfeeding, you are welcome to attend this class when you are pregnant if needed or desired.

This class is taught by Alison Spath, IBCLC. Alison teaches our Introduction to Breastfeeding class, facilitates our weekly breastfeeding support group Breastfeeding Cafe and also offers private lactation consults in your home or at Alison’s home office.
